In the assessment we will take a look at the dancer as an individual, we will explain what we are looking for and guide the dancer along the right path towards going en pointe.
We will be looking if they are physically and mentally ready for pointe work.
A pre pointe programme will be given to the student to prepare them for pointe work.
This is essential for their training; this will help to prevent injuries, and improve overall classical technique.
The thought of going En pointe can help improve strength and technique.
Please remember going En pointe is not a race each dancer will be ready in their own time.
We are looking for:
Posture Control
Turnout Control and understanding
Foot and ankle control
ROM
Use of the quadriceps
Inner thigh muscles
Lower leg muscles
Balance and proprioception.
Maturity
An assessment can take up to an hour and a parent/carer must be present.
A full report and any additional exercises will be given to each dancer.
A follow up visit can be arranged 6 months after the assessment to check the progress of the dancer.
